Email Alert Gateway

Email integration provides reliable delivery of data quality alerts to individual team members or distribution lists.

Configuration Requirements

  • Name: A unique identifier for your email gateway
  • Channel: Email (selected from dropdown)
  • Recipient Email(s): One or more email addresses

Multiple Email Recipients

You can specify multiple email recipients by entering comma-separated email addresses. This ensures all relevant stakeholders receive critical data quality alerts.

Example Configuration:

Name: Data Team Email Alerts
Channel: Email
Recipient Emails: data-team@company.com,
manager@company.com,
on-call@company.com

Managing Multiple Email Recipients

Email gateways support multiple recipients:

  • Enter multiple email addresses separated by commas
  • Support for individual emails and distribution lists
  • Flexible recipient management

Best Practices

Gateway Naming

  • Use descriptive names that indicate purpose and scope
  • Include environment information (e.g., "Production-Critical-Email")
  • Consider team or department in naming convention

Recipient Management

  • Distribution Lists: Use email distribution lists for team-wide alerts
  • Role-Based: Configure different gateways for different roles
  • Escalation: Set up multiple gateways for escalation workflows

Email Content

  • Ideal for formal notifications and audit trails
  • Good for alerts that need to be archived or referenced later
  • Suitable for detailed alert information and context

Alert Frequency

  • Configure appropriate alert thresholds to avoid email fatigue
  • Use different gateways for different severity levels
  • Consider consolidating low-priority alerts into digest emails

Troubleshooting

Common Email Delivery Issues

Email Address Problems:

  • Verify email addresses are correctly formatted
  • Ensure distribution lists are properly configured
  • Check for typos in email addresses

Delivery Issues:

  • Check spam/junk folders for delivered alerts
  • Confirm email gateway is not blocked by corporate firewalls
  • Verify email server settings allow external notifications

Multiple Recipient Issues:

  • Ensure comma separation without extra spaces
  • Validate each individual email address
  • Test each recipient individually if bulk testing fails

Corporate Email Restrictions:

  • Check with IT department about email filtering rules
  • Verify DeepDQ's sending domain is whitelisted
